The Chosen Family!
Family is the most inevitable part of life for every living being in the world. It is something you get by birth, a group of people who are related to you. When you are born, you don’t understand these terms like people, relations, family, etc. But growing up you start understanding family. You learn that these are people you live with under one roof, share joy and sorrow. They guide you, support you in hard times. These are people you have fun with. At younger age like 4–5 years, all you have and all you know in the world is your family.
Then you become old enough to go out and meet new people. You started going to school. You meet new people and you refer to them as a schoolmate, classmate, colony mate, lunch buddy, bus partner, and whatnot. When you start getting close to them then this new term is born in your little heart — FRIEND. The fun part is, the moment when you were introduced to this term, you never knew how much value and love it will hold in your heart when you grow up. That’s it, the moment when you know this new term — Friends, then there is no going back ever.
In my case, I learned this term quite late. I had friends when I was in school. But I understand the real meaning of friendship when I moved out of my hometown for studies after 10th. And today it’s been 12 years since I am living away from my home. In these 12 years, I have met countless people, but some souls were so beautiful and awesome that I never wanted to let them go. So I grabbed them and those people I call my Friends today. One more thing, if you think Friendship is all sweet and happy ride then you have never met real friends. With real friends, it is a hell of a roller coaster ride. You will have your fair share of joy, sorrow, insecurity, jealousy, fights, and whatnot. But real ones will always stick like octopus and will make it through this journey with you.
Once you meet real friends then you will know with them you can be yourself, you can be crazy and they will never judge you for anything. With real ones, you will know that friendship is harder than a relationship and it will hurt like hell at some points. You will have to put all your heart and soul into them, but in the end, it will be all worth it. Because once you reach to the point where you know that these are not my friends anymore instead they have become family then these people will be there for your whole life and through your all times. These people will do every right thing for you even though it takes being harsh on you. These people will support you, will scold you, will make you cry, will make you laugh, will do funny things with you but they will never leave you. Because once a friend always a friend. We cannot choose our family, we are born with it. But we can always choose our friends and that’s why friends are our Chosen Family.
In these years, I have felt and realized that Friendship is nothing but a feeling. A secure feeling that someone is there, always there, no matter what the hell happens, and that someone is going to be there, till last. In your life, if you have not made real crazy friends then you have done nothing. Real friends are the treasure of life and without them, life has no value. Great poets, authors, speakers have written and talked about friendship, but it is something you will never understand by reading, listening, watching. It is something you have to feel, something you have to live, and something you have to go through. Once you meet such crazy people then life will never be the same again, ever. And then no words, no poems, and nothing in the world will be enough to describe that bond, to describe that feeling. Hence I am stopping here with a very beautiful Hindi quote on friendship :
